18 VOLT WARM WHITE PLASTIC BASE

I was tired of buying incandescent bulbs for my trains, which would frequently blow and often melted the sockets. I set out to find LED replacements, and I was surprised at how difficult they were to find. Finally, I stumbled upon Town And Country Hobbies online and they had what I was looking for. The price seemed right for something that would last a long time. They shipped out the next day, and even with Christmas delays I received them in just a few days. They work great - a little dimmer than the originals, but they still light up those passenger cars. As other reviewers have stated, LED lights are polarized - so if they don't work the first time they are placed in the socket, pull them and turn them 180 degrees to make them light. Now I'm set with lights that do what they should do and don't burn out or melt my prized trains.

Although the LEDs are not as bright as the regular bulbs, they are much cooler and will last longer.

Someone has reviewed this product and mentioned that it is not as bright as the incandescent that it is replacing. I agree. If you need or want a really bright light, you should stick with the incandescent. Also, there seems to be an issue with polarity, it can only be placed in the socket one way and the proper way is not marked.

These are not as bright as the incandescent bulbs they replaced so the lighting in passenger cars is a bit more subdued than before, and the base fit more snugly than did the originals.
